About Us

Our Story

Hands and Feet Ministry had its humble beginnings in Charlotte, NC, back in 2013. This heartfelt initiative was sparked during a brief pause at a stoplight, when a compassionate act of handing a bag of snacks to a person holding a "Help" sign inspired its creation.

Driven by a deep-seated desire to assist those in need, I saw this as the perfect chance to put our hands and feet into action. We initiated our efforts by assembling 100 sandwich bags each month, which we promptly delivered to the Urban Ministry Center. Simultaneously, we embarked on preparing homemade hot meals to nourish the homeless community at Tent City.

Recognizing the profound need for basic hygiene items, socks, and shoes, we commenced collecting these essentials from our neighbors, family, and friends, distributing them alongside our meals.

As the grip of the Covid-19 pandemic affected countless individuals, families, and organizations, we broadened our scope and joined forces with larger charitable organizations to bolster their missions. Through collaboration with Nations Ford Elementary School, we provided daily lunches to the residents of Samaritan's House, along with hearty home-cooked Sunday meals.

We solidified ongoing partnerships with entities like Charlotte Rescue Mission, Foster Village Charlotte, Roof Above Men Shelter, and Center of Hope Women's Shelter. Our contributions extended to encompass not only home-cooked meals but also freezer meals, perishable food items, and essential necessities.

Among our most cherished endeavors are supplying celebration cakes, cookies, pies, and desserts to community organizations and individuals.

We've also been deeply engaged with initiatives such as partnering with the Mecklenburgh County Sheriff's Office for Christmas shopping, collaborating with CMPD Westside Division for Shop with a Cop Christmas, and participating in Crisis Assistance Ministry Partner shopping. These endeavors enable us to lend a helping hand to those in need within our community.

As the Executive Director of Hands and Feet Ministry, I find immense joy in not only being a part of the community but in serving it wholeheartedly.

Sincerely,

Eugenia Washington
